Studies are beginning to show us that the health of your mouth may be tied to the health of the rest of your body. Some studies have shown associations between periodontal disease and cardiovascular conditions. Periodontal disease is more difficult to control for diabetics. A study just published in August of this past year suggests that periodontal disease may actually be an independent predictor of Type 2 diabetes. Studies have shown a link between periodontal disease and preterm pregnancies and smaller babies. We want you to be healthy. This is the reason we check your gums when you come in for continuing care appointments with our hygienists.
